We know many of you are unable to physically hug your mothers this year but we have heard many stories of how you are showing your love in creative new ways. This time of COVID-19 is so hard but also forces us to think differently and take chances we may not have done in other circumstances. We love hearing the inspiring stories of how we are supporting and caring for one another. These stories of resilience, strength and creativity have encouraged us to also explore new ways to ensure we can continue to support Ethiopia to thrive.
Let me give you a bit of an update. The numbers of cases of COVID are slowly increasing in Ethiopia and the government is taking decisive and clear action through new emergency legislation. Our Prime Minister, Dr. Abiy, has asked us to wear masks in all public spaces, donate blood and give food to those in need. His leadership is inspiring.
The Sabahar staff are all safe and healthy. The workshop is open but working at about half capacity- so we can ensure safe distancing for our employees. We know the most effective way for Sabahar to approach this challenge is to stay relevant and be creative.
We are working on new products and thinking of new marketing strategies to ensure everyone can continue to purchase hand made, beautifully crafted Ethiopian products now and into the future (including an on-going discount of 25% at the Addis Ababa showroom until 16 May).
